from 900.00

Join us for a comprehensive macro photography learning experience. During this multi-day expedition, we’ll start with the basics and delve into the more advanced techniques for capturing the tiny details around us. We will be covering depth-of-field, magnification ratios, macro lighting, how to pre-visualize macro compositions, and more. Sign up today and unlock the miniature worlds around you!

Optional: While post-processing is not covered during this workshop, we offer two hours of online one-on-one post-processing instruction at a discounted rate when bundled with the workshop. Make the most of the images you capture in the field!

Gear you will need:

  • DSLR or Mirrorless Camera

  • Tripod

  • Remote Release for Camera

  • Macro Lens and/or Extension Tubes

  • Speedlight(s) w/Off Camera Capability

  • Extra memory cards

  • Extra camera batteries

  • Camera Bag (with rain cover)

  • Camera Rain Cover

Recommend Extra Gear:

  • Flash Modifiers/Diffusers/Reflectors

  • Circular Polarizer

  • Macro Ring Light

  • LED Panel(s)

Other items to bring:

  • Water/Water Bottle

  • Sunscreen

  • Rain Coat and Rain Pants

  • Light and Mid-Weight Layers. Layering is a great way to stay warm or cool off depending on conditions.

  • Bug Spray (Maines state bird is the mosquito, just saying)

  • Extra snacks (We will have some, but it never hurts to have more.)

  • Extra Socks and closed toe shoes. (As happens often when shooting around water, your feet will likely get wet feet and nobody likes spending days in wet shoes and socks. If you have hip waiters, these can help in some scenarios. Also, while sandals and flats can be comfortable, they are horrible for getting around on slippery rocks, so we highly recommend waterproof closed-toe shoes or boots.)

Activity Level

While most of the locations are readily accessible from parking lots, there will be some moving on uneven surfaces to get to the best angles as well as short hikes that require some moderate physical ability to access.

Rain Date

There will be no rain date for his workshop. Many of the locations that we will be shooting can look great on a rainy day and part of our teaching will emphasize how to make the best of the conditions at any given locations.
