Jewel of the East: Acadia National Park Multi-Day Expedition - June 28th - 30th, 2019

from 1,000.00

Join us for a 3 day workshop at one of the most iconic locations on the east coast, Acadia National Park. While we move around Mount Desert Island, you will learn how to capture the epic rocky coastline as well as the more subtle landscapes of the islands interior. We’ll explore locations like Monument Cove, Sandy Beach, Cadillac Mountain, the Schoodic Peninsula, and more! This workshop is ideal for those that want to feel the rush of an amazing natural landscape while having the convenience and comfort of Bar Harbor within a short distance.

Optional: While post-processing is not covered during this workshop, we offer two hours of online one-on-one post-processing instruction at a discounted rate when bundled with the workshop. Make the most of the images you capture in the field!

Basic Itinerary
While we will have a plan for great locations to take you, we don’t have a set schedule so that we can be sure that we are able to best chase the light and conditions. (Note: A park pass is not included with your workshop fee.)

- Otter Cliffs
- Sieur De Mont

- Hunter Beach
- Southwest Harbor

Gear you will need:

- Circular Polarizer
- Gradual Neutral Density filters
- Macro Lens

Activity Level
While most of the lighthouses are readily accessible from parking lots, there will be some moving on steep and often slippery rocks to get to the best angles as well as short hikes that require some moderate physical ability to access.

Rain Date
There will be no rain date for his workshop. Many of the locations that we will be shooting can look great on a rainy day and part of our teaching will emphasize how to make the best of the conditions at any given locations.

There are many hotels in Bar Harbor and spread over Mount Desert Island. While there are many hotels in Ellsworth, the drive to some locations would be pretty far, so we encourage that you stay somewhere near Bar Harbor. For those that are looking for a inexpensive stay, there are a few campgrounds on the island, including Blackwoods Campground, run by the park service which has privately owned coin operated showers right outside its gate.
